Project Requirements
Marketing Requirements
MR1 - The system shall be able to communicate over the average length of a parking lot and shopping center in open space.
MR2 - The system shall be able to communicate at half the open space distance in the presence of typical RF signal obstructions.
MR3 - The system shall detect the presence of a dog inside a vehicle.
MR4 - The receiving device shall operate for more than 2 months before recharge.
MR5 - The system shall accurately read temperature values inside a vehicle.
MR6 - The system shall alert users before harmful temperatures for dogs are reached.
MR7 - The receiving device shall fit on a keychain or in the user’s pocket.
MR8 - The system shall operate in conditions exceeding unsafe temperatures for dogs.
MR9 - The system shall be usable without an FCC license.
MR10 - The system shall follow a simple installation procedure which can be completed by single user.
Engineering Requirements
ER1 [MR1] - The receiving device shall receive signals from 360 feet away in ideal conditions.
ER2 [MR2] - The receiving device shall receive signals from 180 feet away in typical use cases.
ER3 [MR3] - The system shall detect motion at least 1.5 meters from the doppler radar.
ER4 [MR4] - The receiving device shall draw an average current no more than 0.8 mA.
ER5 [MR5] - The system shall be able to read temperature values within ± 5℉ referenced to a thermocouple.
ER6 [MR4] - The receiving device shall not draw a maximum current exceeding 120 mA.
ER7 [MR6] - The time it takes to alert the user shall not exceed 1.5 minutes from the temperature threshold being exceeded
ER8 [MR7] - The receiving device shall not exceed a physical size of 1” x 2” x 3”.
ER9 [MR8] - The system shall operate as designed in the temperature range of 20℉ to 140℉.
ER10 [MR9] - The transmitting device shall transmit RF signals within the FCC allocated 902 - 928 MHz ISM frequency band.
ER11 [MR9] - The transmitting device shall transmit RF power that does not exceed 36 dBm EIRP in compliance with FCC 15.209.
ER12 [MR10] - The system will take approximately 5 minutes to set-up.
